Merry Christmas….in July!
This weekend, Philadelphians can feel the festivities of the holidays with the backdrop of the summer season in Chestnut Hill. On July 24 and 25, the drive-able suburb area of the city will be hosting a slew of events jam-packed with the holiday spirit. Those who head to the event will be able to shop and work their way through a variety of festivities alongside some specials from restaurants and some seasonally-focused entertainment.
According to a release, during the two-day celebration, businesses and restaurants in Chestnut Hill will offer discounts and specials to spread the holiday cheer and offer shoppers a jump start on the holiday shopping season. Visitors can stock up on unique summer-themed gifts, including summer scented candles, accessories, and apparel for holiday work parties and Secret Santa gift exchanges.
A few examples of the specials being offered from select area businesses include popular ornament on-site or take-home DIY kits along with hot chocolate and cookie decorating stations from AR Workshop; Royal Iced Cookies in the shape of snowmen and the Grinch from Bredenbeck’s Bakery; 30-50% off of most spring/summer merchandise from Villavillekula; a collection of wedding gowns discounted at 25% off at Kimberly James Bridal; limited edition Peppermint Bark, made with a layer of dark and white chocolate topped with crushed peppermint pieces at Made By ME Handmade Gourmet Chocolates; 15% off full and sale price apparel at Sara Campbell LTD and much more.
In addition, at Gravers Lane Gallery, shoppers will be able to fill a bowl with discount tickets from 10-50% off with additional winner tickets for 2 champagne glasses with a retail value of $180 ( two sets available to win.) Customers can pick one a day from the 22nd to the 25th (discount only good July 22-25) and instantly win two goblets. On the other hand, with the Chestnut Hill Community Association, those who are getting into the holiday spirit a bit early can stop by 8434 Germantown Avenue and get a Christmas Snow Cone. The release also states that the CHCA will be hosting an author event and book signing at the same location. John Derr will host a Q&A of his modern sequel to the Charles dickens classic titled, ‘Another Christmas Carol’ along with wine, cheese and Christmas cookies.
On top of the shopping, Santa will be strolling the avenue on July 24, from 2 to 5 p.m. (at 8527 Germantown Ave. to 8125 Germantown Ave.), on top of a brass quartet strolling the avenue with their summer Christmas spirit on July 24, from noon to 3 p.m. and Christmas Carolers will take their place on the 25 from 3 to 6 p.m.
