Jahlil Okafor suspended following video of second Boston fight

TMZ Sports

The Philadelphia 76ers announced Wednesday evening that Jahlil Okafor is suspended for two games, effective immediately, after video surfaced that shows him absolutely demolish a man with a single blow in a fight outside a club in Boston.

It’s the latest in a flurry of bad news for the 6’11” 19-year-old star center for the Sixers, who is considered a top candidate for rookie of the year.

“We have made the determination to suspend Jahlil Okafor for two games, effective immediately,” the Sixers said in a statement, while adding that they will stand by him in the future.

“Jahlil is a very important part of our organization and our future,” the statement continued. “While we are disappointed with his recent actions, we have faith in him as a valued member of the Sixers. We will provide the necessary resources to support him on his journey and will do our part to help him succeed both on and off the court.”

TMZ Sports released the video Wednesday, which appears to show a second fight from the same night as another videotaped brawl in Boston that Okafor was involved in.

It all apparently began with someone taunting Okaforand trashing the Sixers.

In the video Okafor can be heard yelling back “We got money,” and then suddenly rapidly approaching the man before delivering a powerful haymaker. The man was left with a gash on his face, and glass from a nearby storefront was shattered.

Okafor has in recent days been reported to have been caught flying over the Ben Franklin Bridge at 108 miles per hour, had a gun pointed to his head in Old City, and was recently assigned a personal security guard by the team for whenever he goes out.

Okaforhas not commented on the video, but last tweeted on Nov. 29 after news of his speeding incident broke.

“I hold myself to a higher standard than anyone else ever could and I’m not proud of some of my decisions over the last few months,” he tweeted.
