The owner of John’s Roast Pork can’t thank his donor personally.

John Bucci Jr., owner of the South Philly-classic sandwich shop, was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2008 and underwent a successful bone marrow transplant.

Under the donor bank’s guidelines, you can’t meet the donor as a safe guard.

“Which is frustrating to me because I do want to thank this guy,” Buccisaid.

So on Saturday, June 8, theluncheonette will sponsor a bone marrow drive. The store will offer $5 off a meal at the shop.

Bucci said this is his way of giving back. “To do some good,” he added.

Bucci is hoping to donate around $8,000 in profits. The goal is to raise $50,000 and 500 registered donors.

The fund raiser will take place at the shop, located at 14 E. Snyder Ave., with a host of tents, a D.J. and a sports memorabilia auction.
