Leading man Rollins returns

Charlie Manuel is fond of saying, “the Phillies go as Jimmy goes.” The Phillies manager comes off like a sage considering his team has averaged more than six runs a game with Jimmy Rollins in the lineup.

But the Phillies catalyst, who has missed most of the 2010 campaign due to a calf strain, has only played in 12 games. Without the All-Star shortstop, the Phillies’ disappointing offense has ranged from subpar to nonexistent.

Last night, Rollins was back in his leadoff spot against the Indians. He went 0-for-4, but the Phils still earned a 2-1 win.

“We do have to be cautious with him because he’s had setbacks,” GM Ruben Amaro said. “We’ll go day by day and go by how he feels.”

Luckily, Jamie Moyer was on. He gave up one run on two hits to collect his eighth win.
