Louis Leonetti: Old City’s Recess Lounge stabbing suspect has prior assault charges

Coming on the heels of a bar stabbing that injured four in Center City last night, investigators announced that they made an arrest in a bar stabbing that critically injured one man last Saturday.

Louis Leonetti, 30, of the 1500 block of South 13th Street was arrested on the 400 block of South 21st Street Friday without incident, police said. He was arraigned Saturday and is charged with aggravated assault and related offenses.

Leonetti allegedly got into an argument with employees and patrons as he was leaving Recess Lounge on 2nd Street near Chestnut last Saturday around 2:45 a.m. and stabbed a man, 34, in the leg.

Leonetti was sentenced to a minimum of four years’ probation in 2003 for possession and the manufacturing, delivery or intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, according to court documents. He was also sentenced to a minimum of three years’ probation in 1999 for aggravated assault, possessing an instrument of crime and criminal conspiracy.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 20.
