Louis Spadaccini: Neumann-Goretti coach arrested for drugging student

The head baseball coach of Sts. Neumann-Goretti High School in South Philadelphia who is a former Catholic League “coach of the year” is charged with allegedly luring a 14-year-old student into a hotel room Sunday evening, plying him with alcohol and drugging his drink.

Though there was no evidence of sexual contact, police said the investigation “very much continues,” including a review of forensic evidence and surveillance footage.

Louis Spadaccini, 37, of South Iseminger Street, allegedly picked up a member of the high school’s baseball team around 4:45 p.m. Sunday and took him to a room at the Packer Avenue Holiday Inn under the guise of watching sports on TV.

When the boy’s parents became concerned and began to call and text their son, Spadaccini took him home. He was reportedly so intoxicated that he required medical attention.

“We’re concerned about the activities and because of the exposure of [Spadaccini] to youth in that neighborhood and beyond,” said Philadelphia Police Capt. John Darby.

Spadaccini posted $15,000 bail, according to court documents.
