Need a fresh start this weekend? Make your way to Mad Rex in Fishtown for their grand opening festivities tomorrow, with the ribbon cutting at 10:45 a.m. The world’s first restaurant with a post-apocalypse theme celebrates the day after the apocalypse and the beginning of a new chapter with a “butcher to table” food experience, virtual reality chamber, bar, stage, lounge and outdoor event space.

Pavel Rathousky, a butcher from Prague, first came up with the concept, noticing the popularity of the post apocalypse in movies like “The Matrix” and “Mad Max” and TV shows like “The Walking Dead.”

“We wanted to create a ‘first in the world experience’ in a city that is famous for many historic firsts,” says Rathousky. “There is no other place in the world right now where food-goers can experience this unique style of venue, entertainment and cuisine all in one place.”

As of 11 a.m. tomorrow, the restaurant will be open to the public, and guests can sip cocktails from glasses with bullets in them, cook their own meat on slabs of black rock and dig into homemade ice cream placed in a Himalayan salt bowl.
