Man charged with burglary, kidnapping in Bensalem attack

A volunteer firefighter was charged with attempted kidnapping and burglaryafter he broke into a Bensalemgirl’s home and beat her.

Shane Joseph McMichael, 21, was dressed in all black and wearing a mask when he entered the home on the 2500 block of Forrest Ave. and choked the girl sometime before 10 p.m. Sunday.

She recognized him, and she yelled his name, he stopped the attack. She begged him to let her go wash her face.

McMichael fled the house while the victim was in the bathroom. The victim later discovered that her grandparents’ door was tied shut with black rope.

At McMichael’s house on the 10000 block of Kirby Drivein the Far Northeast section of Philadelphia, police found black rope and a rifle in his gold-colored Jeep.

McMichael, who is a volunteer at the Cornwells Fire Department, was being held on $2million bail.

It was not clear he was represented by a lawyer yet.
