Man fights back against armed robber in South Philly (VIDEO)

Police said that on Monday around 12:30 a.m., the victim, a 21-year-old man, was walking on the 2200 block of South Rosewood Street when the suspect approached him and asked he had a lighter. After a brief conversation, the suspect pulled a gun and took the victim’s phone.

The suspect then forced the victim to remove money from an ATM at Broad and Jackson streets, according to police. He also led him to a nearby 7-Eleven to get more money, but while in the store the victim fought with the offender. Store surveillance video shows the victim grab the robber from behind and struggle with him, while a store employee also tries to help the victim by grabbing the suspect’s arm. The robber then gets his arm free and points the gun at the victim before fleeing the scene.

Police said the robber got away with a Samsung Galaxy S3 cell phone and $30 in cash.

The suspect is described as a black male, medium complexion, between the ages of 20 and 25, about 5 foot 8 inches, 140 pounds, with a thin build, brown eyes, brown hair, mustache and beard. He was last seen wearing a gray striped hooded shirt and blue jeans.
