There are still more than 600,000 people in Philadelphia, Delaware, Chester, Montgomery and Bucks counties who still have no power after Wednesday morning’s ice storm and many may be without service into the weekend, PECO officials said Wednesday afternoon.
More than 3,000 PECO personnel and 1,500 field employees are working to restore power as soon as they can. PECO officials have said most customers will have power within the next few days but some customers in harder hit areas may have to wait until after the weekend.
With the snow earlier this week and ice Wednesday morning, trees and limbs fell under the pressure and snapped power lines all throughout the Delaware Valley. PECO has said it’s the second most damaging storm in its history.
