U.S. marshals shot and killed a former police officer from Northumberland County during a standoff in Upper Darby on Tuesday evening.
Anthony James Galla, 31, was wanted in connection with a shooting at his ex-girlfriend’s home overnight, the Delaware County Times reports.
The standoff occurred at Summit Inn Hotel. Marshals shot and killed Galla after he reportedly pointed a handgun at them about 5:43 p.m.
The manhunt for Galla began after he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s Mount Carmel home about 1 a.m. Tuesday and shot at her boyfriend, who was struck in the foot by a bullet as he fled.
Galla, who lived in Cleona, Lebanon County, was an officer with a number of police departments in central Pennsylvania, including Mount Carmel.
