McNabb’s contract hanging over Birds

Brent Celek was still thinking about the 34-14 loss to Dallas as he cleaned out his locker. The last thing he wanted to talk about was his quarterback’s future.

“Guys, the coaches make those decisions, not me,” Celek said. “Whatever happens, happens.”

Donovan McNabb is under contract through 2010 so his departure shouldn’t be an issue, right?

Wrong.

It’s not inconceivable the Eagles could trade McNabb and hand the keys to 25-year-old Kevin Kolb. Mc-Nabb wasn’t in the locker room yesterday, but last week he crowed.

“No matter what happens I will be here for a bunch of years,” McNabb said. “Do I have to answer this question every year?”

His teammates are prepared for either scenario. They also realize they have much to improve on before training camp opens.

“I have faith and believe that [the Eagles] run the organization the right way, so they will analyze the situation and make the changes that need to be made,” said Sheldon Brown.
