‘Menopause the Musical’ is for the women

Being a woman means years of menstruating and adjusting to that monthly unwanted visit. However, once you’ve mastered it, its evil stepsister—menopause—steals the show and makes you a novice once again. This inevitable change is unfortunate, but GFour Productions has found a way to laugh about it for the past 14 years.

Menopause the Musical”,will have a series of 15 performancesat the Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, PA from Jan. 11 to Jan. 22. All showtimes are available on the theater’s website.

The show has peformed in cities across the country likeDetroit, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, Denver and Las Vegas. The groundbreaking musical is for women who feel menopause coming, are halfway through it or can call themselves survivors.

The musical is set at a department store with four women shopping for a black lace bra during a lingerie sale. After breaking the ice the group jokes about their hot flashes, mood swings, wrinkles, weight gain and more. “Menopause The Musical”, is filled with parodies from pop songs from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s to get the audience out of their seats and singing along.

The show, inspired by a hot flash and a bottle of wine, is intended to celebrate the transition to menopause. The theme of sisterhood is prevalent in the musical’s story and message. It aims to create a bond with the audience by celebrating that menopause does not have to be endured in silence or solitude any more.
