“Tough Cop: Mike Chitwood vs. the ‘Scumbags’”is the name of the former Philly detective’s upcoming book.

Chitwood, the 69-year-old Upper Darby Police superintendent, released the title and cover art today of the upcoming tell-all, which will be published Oct. 15. Metro first reported the story in August.

The South Philly native, who served 19 years on Philadelphia’s police force, tells his most interesting stories collected from a half-century in law enforcement that stretched from Middletown, Bucks County, to Portland, Maine, and back to the Philly area.

“A career cop, he has declined offers to run for public office, from governor of Maine to U.S. congressman from his Pennsylvania district,” according to a news release from Philly-based publisher Camino books. “He’s immersed in protecting people for the duration, as enthusiastic today as when that dream first formed in the mind of a young safety patrolman.”

The book, co-written with Harold Gullan, will be released in paperback for $17.95 and ebook for $7.99.
