Michael Vick: Welcome to Atlanta

It’s the second time in three years Mike Vick will play the Falcons as an opposing QB. But this time, it counts.

Vick, who appeared in mop-up duty when the Eagles and Falcons met in 2009, will be the starter Sunday night at the Georgia Dome. Two years ago, he teared up on the bus ride — and that was without even knowing if he’d see a snap.

On Sunday, he’s guaranteed to see at least four quarters. Coach Andy Reid knows the significance, but isn’t worried as Vick returns to the city where his NFL career started.

“Well, you know, you’ve got to kind of put that part out of your mind and focus in on the game plan, and he’ll do that,” Reid said yesterday. “He’s played in some big games before. He’s the kind of guy that you’ve got to kind of boot out of here. He’s always around and wanting to make sure he has everything down pat. That’s what he’ll focus in on initially and then he goes and plays.”
