Molly Schuyler wins Wing Bowl 24

Wing-eating warrior Molly Schuyler regained her crown once again Friday morning.

“I’m ecstatic. This is awesome. This is the best day of my life,” she said, after smoothly sailing to victory over reigning champ Patrick Bertoletti.

In total, Schuyler downed 429 wings to Bertoletti’s 408, making her the second-time winner of 94WIP’s annual Wing Bowl at the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia.

Asked if any of the other 30-some-odd guys (and one gal) in the bunch of eating competitors intimidated her, Schuyler said no.

“I used to beat up my brothers,” she laughed.

Well before the sun came up, inside and outside the Wells Fargo Center was littered with people and confetti, marking the predawn debauchery that is Wing Bowl.

NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman was introduced as a special guest by show host Angelo Cataldi. He was introduced at the beginning of the show, after the contestants’ introductions, but was poorly received by fans, with boos resonating from the crowd.

“Most of you guys hate me. I don’t know why. I do live a good life. I do,” he said to the crowd.

In round one of the eating competition, four eaters were disqualified for breaching the “you heave, you leave,” rule.

By round two, puke was spewing everywhere, and sand was covering nearly half the floor to prevent slippage. By the end, nobody could wipe the smile off Schuyler’s face or snatch the crown off her head. She took home $10,000, a 2016 Harley Davidson Fat Boy and a Wing Bowl championship ring, compliments of 94WIP.

“If you’re not in the zone, you fall behind,” Schuyler said of her strategy.

“I didn’t doubt myself. I didn’t pay attention. If you don’t pay attention, you can’t get let down.”
