After having a career year in Chip Kelly’s 3-4 defense in 2015, collecting 14.5 sacks and 64 tackles, Connor Barwin’s production has decreased as the Eagles have changed over to a 4-3 scheme.

Barwin is still a very much desired and talented 30-year-old pass rusher, but with his $7.75 million salary due in 2017 and relatively small $600,000 dead money hit, he is a candidate to be cut as the Eagles look for money to address weak spots at cornerback and wide receiver.

The team is rich in pass rushers, boasting Pro Bowler Fletcher Cox as well as Brandon Graham and Vinny Curry and can afford to lose Barwin if they need to.

But they would much prefer trade him. And according to ESPN and nj.com, there are several teams interested including the Colts, Packers and Ravens. All three of those teams have 3-4 defensive schemes.

Barwin is due even more money, $10.25 million in 2018, so any taker would need to renegotiate his contract moving forward. But facing a possible cut, Barwin would likely be open to it.

The defensive end/linebacker has been an outspoken and popular member of the Philadelphia community, famously taking SEPTA to work every single day and raising money for local progressive causes. He would be dearly missed in the Philly area if he did depart.

Barwincould probably net the Eagles a mid- to late-round draft pick.
