Unlike the team a few blocks away, the Flyers don’t have a real starter, let alone four aces.
Then again, Peter Laviolette may trust his closer even more than Charlie Manuel does.
That became apparent when Brian Boucher came to the Flyers’ rescue Saturday, calming the frozen waters after rookie Sergei Bobrovsky allowed three goals in the first 12:30. That enabled the struggling Atlantic Division champs to regain their equilibrium following a wild, six-goal first period.
Which leads to the obvious question for Game 3: Will it be Bob or Boosh between the pipes?
“We don’t have a starter, if that’s what you’re looking for,” Laviolette said. “If you are trying to find the No. 1, we have been struggling with that question the entire year.”
Without Boucher’s stellar relief appearance, coupled with an attack that finally dented Ryan Miller’s armor, the Flyers would truly be on the ropes.
Instead, the team has its confidence restored.
