No hoodies at XFINITY Live!

Ed Snider’s dream entertainment venue XFINITY Live! is set to open Friday — just in time for the Bruce Springsteen concert. The place is a mecca for party-goers attending concerts and/or sporting events, set to rival Baltimore’s Camden Yards complex.

It’s basically what Philly fans have been begging for for more than a decade. Now, there is a place — other than frat party central, McFadden’s — to hang out at after enjoying a Phillies, Eagles, Sixers, Wings, Soul or Flyers victory.

However, fans BEWARE. The complex has instituted a dress code. The complex officially opens Friday, but there is a preview for people with Springsteen tickets Wednesday and Thursday. While we don’t anticipate any problems with Springsteen fans (average age there, what? … 50), there could be some issues with Sixers fans Saturday.

We are not here to offer political commentary. Never have been, never will be. However, we were wondering if hooded sweatshirts would be allowed considering all the controversy swarming around the Trayvon Martin situation. The dress code doesn’t directly forbid hoodies, but it does outlaw “full sweat suits and sweat pants.”

It also specifically prohibits “profanity on clothing.” Does that mean no “F*** Dallas” t-shirts? How about Chase Utley-inspired “WFC” items … just some things to consider this weekend.

Anyway, here is the dress code as written on the XFINITY Live! website:

Does XFINITY Live! Philadelphia have a dress code?

Yes. The dress code prohibits the following: profanity on clothing; sleeveless shirts on men; excessively torn clothing; excessively baggy or sagging clothing; full sweat suits and sweatpants; exposed undergarments on men; excessively long clothing (when standing upright with arms at your side, shirt cannot extend beyond fingers). Management reserves the right to refuse admission to or eject any person whose conduct is deemed to be disorderly or who fails to comply with the terms of entry. Please note that the dress code of individual venues may vary.
