Openness, not the economy, important

CENTER CITY – Philadelphians care more about how their city looks than what’s in its wallet. A three-year Gallup-Knight Foundation study found that cities with the highest levels of “love and passion” for their hometown had the highest levels of local GDP growth.

In Philadelphia, that “community attachment” was driven by “social offerings, openness and beauty.” All three outranked perceptions of local economy, leadership and safety.
