Orlando Garcia charged in Omar Rodriguez murder

OrlandoGarcia, 19, of Kensington, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with the murder of Omar Rodriguez, 28, of Crescentville, who was found shot in the head in a bedroom at a residence on the 5000 block of F Street in April, according to police.

Garcia was charged with murder, violation of the Uniform Firearms Act, possessing an instrument of crime and other related offenses.

Police had found Rodriguez dead shortly before midnight on April 9. They also discovered a second man — who has remained unidentified — who suffered gunshot wounds to his back, elbow and torso.

Garcia was taken into custody on Tuesday after U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force members found him in a second floor apartment on the 2100 block of North Sixth Street in North Philadelphia.

A court date has not been set yet.
