PA man gets naked, stands on median after causing three-car crash

After losing control of his car and causing a multiple vehicle accident on I-78, a Pennsylvania man allegedly took off his clothes and stood naked on a record player on top of the highway’s center median before fleeing, police said today.

Erik Jenkinson, 28, is charged with DUI, resisting arrest, lewdness and related offenses after the bizarre incident in Fogelsville, PA early this morning.

Jenkinson was allegedly driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla eastbound in the left lane of the highway around 4:05 a.m. when he swerved into the center median, hitting the concrete barrier several times. Police said he then crossed into the right lane and hit the driver’s side of a Freightliner truck, dislodging a piece of his Corolla, which hit a third car on its left driver’s side.

Both the Freightliner and the other damaged car, a 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor, pulled over to the shoulder of the highway.

Jenkinson allegedly drifted back into the left lane and hit the median again with his front left bumper, then came to a stop on the median facing east. According to an accident report, he then “took off all his clothing, stood naked on the center concrete median on top of a record player, then ran eastbound on I-78, fleeing the scene.”

He was apprehended shortly and taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.

The 40-year-old driver of the Freightliner and his 51-year-old passenger were uninjured, as well as the 52-year-old Endeavor driver, his 30-year-old wife and their two infant sons.
