UPDATE: “Phase one” of Jay-Z’s Budweiser Made in America Festival’s lineup was announced on the event’s Facebook page yesterday evening.
Confirmed artists are, as speculated, Jay-Z, Pearl Jam, Skrillex, Miike Snow, Afrojack, Odd Future, D’Angelo, Passion Pit, Santigold and The Dirty Projectors.
Drake and The Roots, who were rumored to be performing yesterday, have not yet been confirmed.
Other acts officially attending include Scottish DJ-singer-songwriter Calvin Harris, Maybach Music featuring Rick Ross, Wale and Philly’s own Meek Mill, L.A. punk legends X, soulstress Janelle Monae, Bronx-bred Latin crooner Prince Royce, British singer-actress Rita Ora, dubstep rockers Savoy, who will be DJing a set, and electronica duo The Knocks.
More artists will be announced, according to the event page. A limited number of $99 (plus $21 in
Ticketmaster fees) two-day pre-sale tickets will be available at 10 a.m. today through a code that will be released to fans who RSVP here.
Tickets could go up to as much as $650 for a VIP package, which includes access to VIP viewing areas, a VIP entrance, an
on-site host, a lounge with food concessions and a cash bar, a “Made in
America” festival t-shirt, and a commemorative laminated ticket.
Pearl Jam has announced that they, Massachusetts-based electropop band Passion Pit and Brooklyn rock outfit The Dirty Projectors will be playing the show on their website, which Passion Pit confirmed via Twitter.
A Ticketmaster glitch led to rumors yesterday about the lineup of Jay-Z’s two-day Budweiser Made in America Festival, which he announced last week will be held on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway over Labor Day weekend.
As Dan Gross of Philly Gossip first reported, Burlington County’s Cold Pizza Music, which describes itself as an organization helping to connect artists with fans in the college music scene, posted a screenshot of the prematurely-released lineup that reportedly appeared on Ticketmaster’s website Friday.
Coming as no surprise, Jay-Z is listed as the first act. Also possibly appearing are 90s alt-rock legends Pearl Jam, electronica singer-songwriter Skrillex, Dutch producer and DJ Afrojack, Swedish indie pop band Miike Snow, L.A.-based hip hop collective Odd Future, Lil Wayne protege (and star in his own right) Drake and neo-soul stud D’Angelo, who recently wrapped up a comeback tour.
Philly-bred artists on the list so far include electro-pop-rap darling Santigold, who has opened for Jay-Z in the past, and rapper Meek Mill. Though many local artists said they were expecting the slight, that won’t sit well with some fans given the wealth of available musical talent in the city. Other fans have pointed out that the festival is intended to include diverse variety of talent to draw a broader appeal.
Tickets will be on sale to the general public Wednesday at 10 a.m.
