A Philadelphia police officer is in stable condition after suffering a heart attack during a struggle with a suspect in the city’s Logan section.
The incident happened during a foot pursuit and struggle with a suspect around 12:45 a.m. near Seventh and Louden streets.
Officials said Officer Michael Gwynn, 31, radioed for help and when officers arrived they found Gwynn unconscious on top of the suspect. Officers began CPR, which Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said saved Gwynn’s life. He was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center.
Gwynn’s status has been upgraded from critical to stable condition, but the four-year veteran is in a medically induced coma, officials said.
The 42-year-old suspect suffered minor injuries and was taken to Temple University Hospital. Police have not released his name.
