A woman is in critical condition after she was found on the street with her throat slashed overnight.

Police said the victim’s throat had a 12-inch slash across it when she was found by officers near the corner of Frankford Avenue and Stella Street around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, NBC10 reported.

“She had a piece of denim wrapped around her neck. She was bleeding profusely from the neck,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small was quoted by 6ABC.

Investigators found a blood trail that seemed to indicate that the victim had staggered down Stella Street for about 75 feet while bleeding, NBC10 added.

Authorities took the woman to Temple University Hospital in critical condition, according to 6ABC.

The woman did not have identification on her, NBC10 said, also stating that authorities have been reviewing surveillance video to uncover what led to the incident.
