Philly Gets Its Groove On

In celebration of So You Think You Can Dance’s second annual National Dance Day, Philly is showing off some moves of its own.

Philadelphia Dance Day, organized by Deborah Hirsch of Philly Dance Fitness, will run all day Saturday. The event features 16 free workshops taught by seven different companies at studios around the city.

Styles range from the Lindy Hop to co-ed pole dancing. Classes run from 30 to 45 minutes and no experience (or partner) is required. All ages are welcome, with some classes geared towards children as young as two years old.

The event will culminate in an evening Zumba party and social dance at the Swing at McGuffin Theatre & Film Company inside the Adrienne Theater, 2030 Sansom, with a performance from Estilo Studio’s Latin dance pros.

For more information, including a full schedule, visit Philadelphia Dance Day’s website.

And shake a leg (or whatever body part your prefer)– some of the classes have limited space and are already filling up.
