Philly police nab alleged prostitute on Backpage.com, bust 10 johns

A sex worker from Chicago reportedly visiting Philadelphia on business was arrested after allegedly advertising her services on the popular free listings website Backpage.com.

The City Wide Vice Unit announced today that they arrested one alleged prostitute last week after reading her ad on Backpage.com, as well as 10 alleged johns in a separate sting.

Alani Williams, 23, of Chicago, IL, was reportedly arrested on the 4100 block of Island Avenue near the Philadelphia International Airport on Aug. 29.

Williams was arrested after officers investigated an advertisement on backpage.com, a Craigslist-like site where adult services are frequently advertised.

Williams was charged with prostitution and solicitation.

Police confiscated $773, a cell phone and hotel room key cards from Williams.

Police also announced today that on Aug. 27, City Wide Vice officers conducted an undercover operation in the 25th and 26th districts with police officers disguised as prostitutes.

Police said 10 johns allegedly solicited the undercover officers and were arrested.

Nathaniel Ballard, 49, Giovanni Luis Burgos Jr., 25, Myomar Elmerini, 26, John Cook, 47, Kenneth McDuffie, 58, Daniel Irizarry, 33, and Carlos Lopez, 44, all of Philadelphia, along with Bernard Evans, 55, of Delaware, PA, James Marquez, 40, of Vineland, NJ, and Ernades Souto, 29, of Maryland were arrested during the sting and are all charged with patronizing prostitution and solicitiation.

Police confiscated $2,808, four cars including a 2005 Chevrolet Impala, and five grams of marijuana.
