PHOTOS: International Cycling Classic rolls back into Manayunk

Barbero Cuesta, wearing bib151and racing for CajaRural-Seguros RGA, beat out Michael Woods by one second in a photo finish.

Barbero Cuesta’s Caja Rural teammate, Amets Txurruka, finished fourth, six seconds off the winning time.

ThePhiladelphia International Cycling Classic isone of the longest single-day races in the U.S. and boasts thefamously brutal Manyunk Wall, a steep hill.

Elizabeth Armistead won the women’s race with a time of 2:58:01.

In 1993, Lance Armstrong started his professional career in the race, taking home the title.

Cyclist enthusiast lined the road, cheeringtheir favorites on. In Manayunk, decks were filled and people spilled out from bars to the beautiful sunshine.

“We come down to the race every year, it’s a tradition for us,” Jordan from Scranton Wilkes-Barre said with a half cup of beer in his hand. “We make the drive down on Saturday and stay at our friends. It’s worth calling out of work the next day.”

“We love to bring the kids out,” Carlie from West Chester said. “We stay with my family in Bala Cynwyd and love seeing our kid’s reaction when the bikers turn the corner towards where we stand every year.”
