PHOTOS: Philly’s baby hawks

Three Red-tailed Hawk chicks born in the last week are now feeding from their parents’ beaks and seem to be enjoying the confines of their nest on the front of the Franklin Institute.

Our photographer, Rikard Larma, got a chance to snap photos of the raptor fluffballs from the great view of the institute’s main boardroom.

Streaming video of activity inside the nest built with the feathers and bones of Center City pigeons (yes, that’s a big part of the hawk family’s diet) can be found at http://www.fi.edu/hawks/. And a special thanks to the Franklin for getting an up-close look.
