Piccolo girl, theVillanovaUniversity marching band player who went viral after she was caught weeping while watching her team lose to North Carolina State in 2015, has announced her “retirement” after Villanova’s Monday night win over University of North Carolina.

“Oh what a difference a year makes,” wrote “Piccolo Girl,”whose real name is Roxanne Chalifoux, on Twitter, after watching Villanova’s nerve-tinglingwinning basket.

“I want to thank everyone for their kindness and support throughout these crazy basketball seasons. ‘piccolo girl’can officially retire,” she later tweeted.

Piccolo Girl wasfeatured on The Jimmy Fallon Show and celebrated widely for her tear-streaked face demonstrating the emotion of Villanova’s last, failed attempt at an NCAA championship.
