Police seek live-in boyfriend as ‘person of interest’ in murder of Hunting Park mother

A 27-year-old woman was shot and killed in a Hunting Park apartment last night while two children, including her young daughter, were asleep inside. Police are now looking for the woman’s live-in boyfriend as a person of interest in connection with her killing.

A neighbor heard gunshots and called officers to a second-floor apartment on the 3500 block of Old York Road around 11:30 p.m., said Capt. James Clark of the Homicide Unit. There, police found the body of Rasheedah Blunt, 27, who had been shot multiple times. “Preliminary investigation reveals that Rasheedah was having a very loud verbal argument with an unknown male inside of the apartment,” Clark said. “Minutes later, that male pulled out a gun, firing several times, striking and killing her.”

Blunt’s six-year-old daughter was asleep in another bedroom, along with a three-year-old boy belonging to a friend of the victim. “They were unharmed – they weren’t awakened until police came,” Clark said.

Investigators are now looking for Dominique Haynes, 33, who dated Blunt for six months and had lived with her for the past three months, according to Clark. Though Haynes has not yet been named a suspect in Blunt’s death, police want to speak with him. “He’s the live-in boyfriend, he hasn’t been seen since,” Clark said. “He did not show up for work today and we need to talk to him, so right now we’re calling him a person of interest, but we need to get him into the Homicide Unit and we need to talk to him.”

Haynes is described as a six-foot-one-inch tall black male of about 230 pounds. Clark said that he is well-known to police, with past charges including firearms offenses. Haynes was recently released from jail and is currently on probation, Clark said.
