Police Seeking at Least Three Men in Craiglist Robberies

Police are seeking at least three men in connection with a Craigslist robbery ring.

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Aleem Tyreek Reed, who, along with at least two unidentified suspects, is wanted for three separate robberies of Craiglist sellers between August 11 and August 17.

In each case, the sellers were contacted about expensive watches they had for sale on Craiglist. The seller met the buyer and was then robbed at gunpoint for the merchandise.

The first incident occurred when Reed allegedly arranged to meet a seller on August 11 on the 1400 block of Jefferson Street, claiming to be interested in buying a Rolex watch. While inspecting the watch, Reed allegedly pointed a large caliber gun at the buyer, took the watch and fled on foot.

A second suspect who claimed to be a Temple student met a seller regarding a Rolex watch on August 15 on the 1900 block of N. Gratz Street. While the suspect was looking at the watch, Reed allegedly approached the driver’s window of the buyer’s car and took the Rolex at gunpoint, along with the watch on
the buyer’s wrist and his cell phone.

In the third incident, the seller of a Movado watch met a supposed buyer on the 1900 block of N. Gratz Street. As the “buyer” was viewing the watch, an unknown man approached and demanded it at gunpoint. When the seller refused to turn it over, the man shot him once in the leg and took it.

Central Detective Division believes at least three
males are involved in the robbery ring, including Aleem Reed.

Police are urging everyone to exercise caution when selling or buying items from Craiglist and ask anyone with any information concerning the robberies or suspects to call Detective MacCartney or Detective McIver of the Central Detective Division at 215-686-3093 or 215-686-3094.
