Police: Woman fatally stabs fiancee in the heart on their wedding day

A Whitehall Township woman was arrested yesterday for allegedly stabbing her fiancee in the heart and killing him on the couple’s wedding day, according to a report from The Morning Call.

Na Cola Darcel Franklin, 31, was apparently in a state of disbelief at her arraignment yesterday and could comprehend neither the death of her fiancee, Billy Rafeal Brewster, 36, nor the role she is accused of having played in the crime. She reportedly asked authorities to check on her fiancee because she did not believe that he was dead.

Police reportedly found Brewster’s body on the landing outside the apartment he shared with Franklin around 2:20 a.m. yesterday morning – less than eight hours before the couple’s scheduled 10 a.m. wedding. Brewster was stabbed twice in the torso and died of a punctured heart about an hour later at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.

Brewster’s cousin and his wife, Monique Kali, had traveled from out of town and were staying with the couple for the wedding, according to the paper. There were also four children in the home. Kali reportedly told police that she and her husband heard Franklin and Brewster begin to argue as they sat in a bedroom.

Kali said her husband left the room to investigate and she followed after hearing someone yell “knife.” She said when she stepped into the living room, she saw her husband standing between the couple as Franklin swung a knife and Brewster bled from his side.

The woman then allegedly tackled Franklin and disarmed the woman with her husband’s help. Brewster stumbled outside. One of the children reportedly picked up the knife and carried it into the kitchen.

Franklin was then arrested and jailed at Lehigh County Prison in Allentown, where she is being held without bail.
