Poll: Pennsylvania voters think the Phillie Phanatic more qualified than Trump

There was an interesting nugget hidden in a Public Policy Polling study released this week: a plurality of surveyed Pennsylvanian voters believe that the Phillie Phanatic is more qualified to be president than Donald Trump.

It’s true: about 46 percent of those surveyed preferred the mascot’s expertise to 40 percent choosing the New York real estate magnate, according to the report.

Perhaps even more revealingly, 14 percent of voters surveyed said they “weren’t sure” who was more qualified. Sad!

The poll asked 29 questions of 1,106 voters in the state over June 3 to 5, the polling group said.

On a more serious note: the poll projects a close race between Trump and presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton: she leads with a razor thin 41 percent to 40 percent.
