A buildup of propane gas caused the dramatic Feltonville food truck explosion last month, the Philadelphia Fire Marshal announced Monday.
The July 1st explosion, which killed a mother, her daughter and injured 11, resulted from excess propane coming into contact with an open flame inside the La Parrillada Chapina food truck, which was parked outside 300 W. Wyoming Ave.
Olga Galdernez, the 42-year-old truck owner, and her 17-year-old daughter, Jaylin Landaverry, died a few days after the explosion. Two of the other 11 injured in the blast remain hospitalized and are in stable condition.
The Fire Marshal, the Arson Task Force and the Department Of Transportation continue to investigate the cause of the propane leak.
