Not all heroes wear capes. In fact, during the age of coronavirus, heroes come in many different formats.

During this precarious time, many have been stepping up to the plate and braving the unknown realities of this pandemic to still provide essential services to those in need, including the healthcare providers at Top Choice Home Care. The premier health care agency offers an array of non-medical personal care services to senior citizens and disabled persons, all provided by a trained group of caregivers.

Keeping the mental spirits of their clients up is a top priority, and the employees at Top Choice continue to showcase empathy and selflessness by providing life-sustaining services to those who so desperately need it.

Although every Top Choice caregiver makes a major impact, the home care agency has recognized a few employees who truly go the extra mile. Samera Butler, President of Top Choice Home Care gave a little more insight into who these unsung heroes are:

Bernadine Mapp has been with Top Choice for some time and currently is taking care of her sister. Mapp is said to “always be high-spirited with a very positive attitude and is one of those people that is always happy no matter if it’s a bad situation—she is just a really happy person, and goes above and beyond.”

Jose Feliciano has been with his current client for four years, but also “always goes above and beyond and volunteers at Top Choice events. Any time we take a client out for any kind of trip, he’s always here to help. When we have our Bingo games, he’s always wanting to help all of our clients. He’s a one-of-a-kind caregiver, and he’s the only caregiver who will say let me help everybody.”

Cheryll Hamilton was nominated by the staff at Top Choice where she has worked for awhile. Hamilton received praise from her coworkers and is said to be “available anytime that they need her, she is always dependable and she really tries her best.”

Shamzadeen Doughty has been with the agency for five years and is currently taking care of his grandmother. Doughty is said to “really go above and beyond. Every time we check in on his client, he is always there—he does a lot for her and her well-being.”

Top Choice Home Care is proud to recognize its employees, but also wants to extend thanks to all doctors, nurses and medical providers on the front lines and anyone who works with home care agencies whether it be Top Choice or not.

The organization is also still currently providing necessary services, including contact-less delivery of items from the grocery store, paper goods and other supplies. Anyone interested is asked to email [email protected] or call 215-792-6884 for more information.
