Reid: We are not the ‘Dream Team’

You know the instant the words, “dream” and “team,” left backup quarterback Vince Young’s lips, Andy Reid cringed.

The Eagles coach discourages circus-like atmospheres and goes out of his way to be bland to the media. Now, after the busiest offseason in franchise history, Reid is trying to downplay expectations.

“Right now, we’ve got a lot of good looking guys standing around watching,” Reid told ESPN Radio’s Mike and Mike in the Morning on Wednesday. “Obviously, dreams aren’t reality, so the reality will come when I get my hands on them and we get them into practice and start grinding here like the other guys are grinding. That’s reality.”

The “good looking guys” Reid is referring to include Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Nnamdi Asomugha, Jason Babin, Cullen Jenkins, Evan Mathis, Ronnie Brown and Ryan Harris.

Rob Ryan took a shot at the Eagles Tuesday by indirectly labeling them the “all-hype team.”

Reid laughed off those comments Wednesday.

“I would have been pretty upset if he’d have said it was a hot dog eating contest,” Reid told ESPN Radio’s Mike and Mike. “I would have been ready then. I don’t really care about that stuff. Anybody can say what they want to say. Reality is when you strap it on and play.”

That happens Sept. 11 in St. Louis. Let the countdown begin.
