A retired judge died in a South Philadelphia house fire Sunday night.

Anthony DeFino, 86, was killed in the blaze on the 2500 block of South 20th Street, 6ABC Action News reports. The fire started about 7 p.m.

DeFino served as Philadelphia Common Pleas Court judge for 19 years before he retired in 2007.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire showing from the home’s second and third floors. It took only about a half-hour to bring the fire under control.
