Reward up to $10k for suspect in 59 West Philly tire slashings

Investigators have announced a $10,000 reward for the vandal who slashed the tires of at least 59 vehicles overnight on several West Philadelphia blocks.

Police said residents on Hazel Avenue between 49th and 51st streets woke up to find the tires of at least 48 cars had been slashed. The tires of at least eight vehicles were slashed on the 5300 block of Chancellor Street nearby.

Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey announced today a $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible. The Fraternal Order of Police is offering an additional $5,000, bringing the total to $10,000.

“We urge anyone with information about this criminal act to come forward and help us put an end to this senseless and hurtful crime,” the police department said in a statement.
