Rollins wants a comeback

Charlie Manuel likes to say that his Phillies go as Jimmy Rollins goes. Well, for much of the 2010 season Rollins was sidelined due to injury.

Without the Phillies’ catalyst, the highly touted offense went through some lean times. The lineup struggled even with Rollins, who hit a career-worst .243, along with eight home runs and 43 RBIs, in the order. The offensive woes were never more apparent than during the disappointing NLCS against the Giants.

The Phillies shortstop underwent minor surgery on his left wrist Thursday, The team announced that Dr. Randall Culp removed a ganglion cyst. Stitches will be removed within two weeks.

The wrist should be fine for the 2011 season.

“I believe I’ll be fine,” Rollins said. “I don’t expect to be hurt like I was last year.

“I can’t have another season like that. I’m taking care of myself. I never had a season like last season.”
