Ronnie Brown: Surprise! Eagles scoop up another big name

Vince Young called the Eagles the Dream Team. So, fittingly, they needed to add a fifth Pro-Bowl player.

The Eagles signed free agent Ronnie Brown yesterday to a one-year deal worth a reported $1 million. The 29-year-old fills an immediate need as the backup tailback, behind starter LeSean McCoy. In six seasons in Miami, Brown rushed for 4,815 yards, third all-time in Dolphins history.

“Ronnie is an all-around running back with a versatile skill set,” said Eagles GM Howie Roseman. “He can run the ball, catch it and does very well in pass protection. We think he’ll be a tremendous complement to LeSean and the other young backs on this team that we really like.”

Brown is scheduled to arrive at Lehigh today. Assuming he passes a physical, he’ll take the practice field either this afternoon or tomorrow morning. The Eagles have now signed or traded for five Pro Bowl players — Brown, Young, Jason Babin, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Nnamdi Asomugha.
