Ronnie Brown to the Eagles

The Eagles and running back Ronnie Brown agreed on a one-year contract moments ago. Monetary terms of the deal haven’t been disclosed.

Brown was left for dead by the Miami Dolphins when they inked Reggie Bush last week. The 29-year-old Brown was the second overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft. He is third on Miami’s all-time leading rushing list, with 4,815 yards. He will start the 2011 season as LeSean McCoy’s primary backup.

“Ronnie is an all-around running back with a versatile skill set,” Eagles GM Howie Roseman said in a statement. “He can run the ball, catch it and does very well in pass protection. We think he’ll be a tremendous compliment to LeSean and the other young backs on this team that we really like.”

Brown is also known as a Wildcat specialist and outweighs McCoy by about 20 pounds. The only knock on him is that he has missed 16 games since 2007 due to injury.
