SEPTA delays after train strikes, kills person

After a Market-Frankford Line subway struck and killed a commuter on Monday morning, SEPTA said riders could experience delays of up to an hour.

Authorities were investigating the death after an eastbound train struck a person around 7 a.m. on Monday at the 40thStreet Station in West Philadelphia, NBC10 reported.

“Service is operating with shuttle buses between 30th and 52nd street stations due to police activity,” SEPTA’s website was quoted by NBC10.

Shuttle buses are being offered on bus routes 36, 34, 15, 13, 11 and 10, PhillyVoice reported, adding that SEPTA warned Market-Frankford Line passengers to expect delays that could last an hour.

At the 40thStreet Station, emergency vehicles remained on the scene Monday morning as authorities continued to investigate, according to NBC10.

The identity of the person who was killed has not been released, PhillyVoice added.
