The Sixers are once again the talk of the NBA.

And once again, it’s probably not for the reason fans would hope.

Last time the 76ers were making headlines (prior to last month’s draft) they tied an all-time NBA record for consecutive losses.

This time, it’s because they pretty much have a bucket of cash and no one to pay with it.

Trade rumors from nearly every team in the NBA, many of whom jockey for the necessary cap space to sign superstars like Lebron James or Carmelo Anthony.

But are any of these true?

“There’s a lot of stories out there,” Sam Hinkie told the media back on Tuesday. “Hundreds. Some have some legs and some don’t. You’ll never know until they happen.”

The Sixers have been linked to players like the Rockets Jeremy Lin (as they make room for a run at Carmelo), Amare Stoudemire (as the Knicks also make room to entice Melo) and several other teams as well.

The Sixers are $30 million under the salary cap and aside from Michael Carter-Williams, Nerlens Noel and Thaddeus Young, they really have no one of note on their roster.

Hence why everyone is calling.

“We are involved in a lot of conversations,” Hinkie said. “We are not involved in as many as has been reported.”
