Sixers ink top two draft picks

Nerlens Noel, Sixers draft The Sixers signed their top two draft picks, including sixth overall pick Nerlens Noel.

The Sixers are mere days away from the start of training camp. The squad takes over Hagan Arena on the campus of Saint Joseph’s University this Saturday.

Before they get there, they wanted to take care of some business. The Sixers signed their two first-round draft picks, Nerlens Noel (sixth overall) and Michael Carter-Williams (11th) yesterday. Terms were not disclosed.

Noel is rehabbing from ACL surgery and isn’t expected back before December. They are certainly not going to rush the 19-year-old center back too soon. He averaged 11 points and 10 rebounds last year at Kentucky.

Meanwhile, Carter-Williams has a shot to earn a starting job. The 6-foot-6 guard averaged 14 points, seven assists and two steals per game for the Sixers in the Orlando Pro Summer League.

Both players will address Philadelphia reporters Friday at media day.
