A teen was shot early Saturday morning in the courtyard of a North Philadelphia housing project.

Police said the victim, 16, was playing cards with friends inside a unit of the Norman Blumberg Apartments, located at 1516 Judson Way.

The teen left around 2:30 a.m. to pick up food from a Chinese restaurant near 23rd Street and Oxford Avenue.

As the teen was walking back through the courtyard of the Blumberg projects, he told police he heard a single gunshot and was stuck in the back of his left leg.

The victim was able to make it back inside the apartment, where he called police.

Paramedics rushed the teen to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he was in stable condition Sunday.

There is no word on a motive, and no arrests have been made.
