An 18-year-old woman was shot in the head in a road rage incident in Chester County and now a manhunt is underway to find her killer.
Authorities said Bianca Nikol Roberson, 18, of West Chester, Pennsylvania was driving in her green Chevrolet Malibu on Thursday, attempting to merge when she got into a road rage incident with another driver.
“Route 100 South drops down from two lanes to one lane where it merges into Route 202,” Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan said during a press conference Thursday night, according to NBC10. “At that point, her car started jostling with a red pickup truck. Not actually hitting but both of them trying to merge together.”
Police said the driver of the pickup truck then pulled out a gun and shot Roberson in the head, killing her instantly.
Roberson’s car then went off the side of the road and crashed into a wooded area as the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene down the shoulder of the county highway.
“This is now a murder case,” Hogan said. “A young woman has died senselessly.”
Roberson was a recent graduate of Bayard Rustin High School in West Chester. She was headed to Jacksonville University in Florida in town weeks for freshman orientation and dreamed of someday working for the FBI, her family told ABC 6.
Roberson had been shopping at the mall prior to the altercation and her grandmother passed the crash site intending to meet Roberson at her home.
“I hope it’s not Bianca,” the teen’s grandmother thought to herself as she passed the crash site.
Police described the driver of the pickup truck as a white male, 30 to 40 years old with blonde or light-colored hair and of medium build. The pickup truck is described as a small, red Chevrolet with faded paint.
Police said the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
