Teen pinned under forklift dies in joyriding accident


A 14 year-old boy has died in Northeast Philadelphia after being pinned under a forklift at a paper company.

Police said five teensbroke into the Newman Paper Company Sunday night to joyride on forklifts.

The victim was riding in one of the vehicles when he was hit by another forklift driven by a 13-year-old girl. The crash tipped the forklift over, pinning the boy underneath and causing head trauma.

Police were called to the warehouse on the 6100 block of Tacony Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. The four teens guided police inside.

Police said a security guard checked the area at approximately 8:30 p.m. and found nothing amiss. The teens told police they suck through a hole in the fence.
