Police have charged a teenager with aggravated assault for allegedly shooting a teenage girl in the chest while playing with a gun.

Elijah Fauntleroy, 17, is charged for the shooting around 3 a.m. Wednesday inside a home on the 5600 block of Bloyd Street in North Philly.

Police found a 14-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to her right hand and her right upper chest area. She was transported to St. Christopher’s Hospital, where she is listed in stable condition, police said.

The girl told police the shooting happened while she was with a group of friends.

“One of her friends, a 17-year-old male was playing with a handgun; the male was pointing the handgun at everyone when the handgun went off,” the police report stated.

Responding officers were directed to the roof of the home, where they located a revolver and a rifle at the edge of the roof, police said.

Fauntleroy, of the 1500 block of 68th Avenue, turned himself into police around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

No court date was yet listed for Fauntleroy.
