Philadelphia has a host of events scheduled this weekend to celebrate America’s 234th birthday. Hey, how often does 234 roll around? Here’s Metro’s rundown of what to look for.
Most Anticipated
The world-renowned Philadelphia Orchestra will perform its annual free concert Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Penn’s Landing followed by fireworks. You can’t beat the price to hear the best musical ensemble around.
Least Exciting
Descendants of the original Declaration of Independence signers will tap the Liberty Bell to honor their ancestors on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
Biggest Headache
There will be road closures all weekend due to events. Eakins Oval in front the Art Museum will be closed Thursday through July 4. The 500 block of Chestnut will closed much of the day Thursday and several streets from Ninth to 11th and Vine to Arch will be closed on Saturday for the Chinatown Block Party.
